The Department of Population and Public Health Sciences is in search of a Research Lab Technician II who can assist with an ongoing NIH-funded research on the role of noncoding RNAs in disease pathogenesis. We look for a competitive individual who has a detailed understanding of the regulatory function of noncoding RNAs in controlling gene expression during health and disease states. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with pre-processing and analysis of transcriptomic data, including RNA-seq and miRNA-seq.

The successful candidate will have a B.S. degree in computational biology, computer sciences, bioinformatics, or related disciplines; he/she must be proficient in Python and R and familiar with bash/Linux command-line, cloud cluster computing, and database management, and possess programming skills.

The hourly rate range for this position is $24.23- $30.32. Minimum Education: Associate’s degree, Specialized/technical training, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education Minimum Experience: 2 years Minimum Field of Expertise: Working knowledge of laboratory equipment and research protocols. Knowledge of computer analysis techniques and ability to provide routine analysis and interpretation of research data.
