JOB SUMMARY
Under general direction, the Research Software Engineer helps build and manage ongoing open-source software projects through Open Source with SLU.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Designing, implementing, and testing software
- Documenting development
- Automating processes
- Communicating with clients
- Building open-source communities
- Performs other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of modern programming languages (C++, Python, Java, JavaScript, etc.)
- Automated testing skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related engineering discipline, Master’s degree preferred.
This position is being funded by a grant, therefore continuation in this position is contingent upon funding availability or anticipated to end in June 2026.
