We are seeking a motivated and skilled Research Specialist to join our team in developing and validating a novel setup to study breast Her2 dimerization using advanced fluorescence microscopy techniques. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of molecular biology and oncology. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under general supervision, performs a variety of defined research and laboratory tests and experiments according to prescribed protocols and assigned schedules.
  • Sets up experiments as prescribed by a principal investigator.
  • May be required to participate in laboratory maintenance activities such as sterilization and cleaning of equipment, ordering of supplies, inventory and media preparation.
  • Maintains records, files and logs of work performed in laboratory notebooks and computer databases.
  • Compiles data and records results of studies for publications, grants and seminar presentations.
  • Employees in this classification may be required to work with, take specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required by principal investigator.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

  •  Development of Fluorescence Microscopy Setup:
    •  Assist in designing and assembling the novel fluorescence microscopy setup for studying breast tissue samples.
    • Collaborate with engineers and senior researchers to optimize the setup for multi-dimensional imaging.
    • Conduct thorough testing and troubleshooting of the microscopy system to ensure optimal performance.
  • Experimental Validation:
    • Perform experiments to validate the fluorescence microscopy setup.
    • Prepare and manage biological samples, including cell cultures and tissue specimens.
    •  Utilize advanced fluorescence microscopy techniques to capture high-quality images of cells and tissues.
    • Analyze and interpret imaging data to assess the accuracy and reliability of the setup.
  • Data Management and Analysis:
    •  Maintain accurate and detailed records of experiments, protocols, and results.
    • Use image analysis software to process and quantify fluorescence microscopy data.
    • Assist in the preparation of scientific reports, presentations, and publications.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    •  Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, including biologists, chemists, and engineers.
    •  Present findings at lab meetings and contribute to the development of project strategies.
    • Participate in collaborative projects and provide support to team members as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience with fluorescence microscopy.
  • Experience in cell culture techniques and molecular biology methods.
  • Competence in fluorescence microscopy and image analysis software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Laboratory environment with exposure to biological samples and chemical reagents.
