Responsibilities

The Bodine Lab is seeking a research technician to conduct research in cellular and molecular mechanisms regulating skeletal muscle size and function in response to disease and aging using rodent models.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing mouse colony (updating strain database, setting up breeders, and genotyping by PCR)
  • Exercise training of laboratory animals
  • Euthanizing animals and dissecting muscle tissue
  • Sectioning, immunostaining, and imaging muscle tissue
  • Participating in lab and departmental meetings

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates are required to have Bachelor’s degree typically in one of the biological sciences and/or equivalent years of relevant laboratory experience.

Willingness to handle laboratory animals (mice and rats).Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Highly organized and meticulous to ensure accuracy of data collection and recording. Willingness to learn new techniques and initiative to solve problems.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience with handling laboratory animals (mice and/or rats). Proficieny in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

Work Hours

Typically Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm.
