The project concerns studies of a new cellular mechanism, simaphagy, which entails degradation of organelles involved in signal transduction. The aim of the project is to understand the molecular mechanisms that regulate simaphagy, and to investigate the iimportance of stalled simaphagy in cancer development.

ob description and work tasks

The researcher will independently plan and carry out biochemical, molecular biological and cell biological experiments for studies of simaphagy. He/she will collaborate with experts in electron
microscopy and cancer biology. The work will be performed in the laboratories of Centre for Cancer Cell Reprogramming (CanCell), in the premises of Institute for Cancer Research, Montebello.

  • Generate plasmid constructs for relevant proteins that regulate simaphagy
  • Generate stable cell lines, including gene edited lines
  • Prepare recombinant proteins for in vitro studies
  • Analyse protein-protein and protein-membrane interactions in vitro
  • Analyse cells and conditioned media by mass spectrometry
  • Study cell lines by advanced light microscopy

Qualification requirements

  • Doctoral degree in molecular cell biology
  • Extensive laboratory experience in advanced molecular biology, including CRISPR technology

  • Experience with protein biochemistry, including proteomics and posttranslational
    modifications
  • Extensive experience with biochemical analyses of proteins and their interactions with
    membranes
  • Extensive experience with advanced light microscopy, including confocal microscopy and
    microscopy of live specimens

Personal qualifications
