Your activities
The postdoctoral fellow will be in charge of research on French-language lyric poetry and its receptions from the 14th to the 16th century, in particular on polyphony studied in its manuscript sources.
In addition to the work on the sources studied in the other axes of the project, the activity of the postdoctoral researcher will include a scientific component (writing several articles, organizing an international conference) and an event component (leading workshops in collaboration with specialists in early music, concert-readings, cultural mediation).
He/she will be responsible for developing online resources on the spatial and visual aspects of medieval vocality.
In addition, he/she will participate in the team’s collective activities: support for the doctoral student’s work; proofreading the team’s English-language publications; support for the project’s influence in scientific networks, the media and cultural institutions in Switzerland and elsewhere.
General information about the project
Funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, the project Voix contre voix. Pour un imaginaire de la polyphonie (XIVe-XVIe c.) consists of a transdisciplinary study at the intersection of literary theory, musicology, codicology and performance. Its aim is to develop a redefinition of literary polyphony, through a global study of the issues of “plurivocality” in various fields and in different genres. Through the study and analysis of a hybrid corpus of lyrical texts from musical sources, the project aims to place the literary canon within the broader framework of 15th-century musico-poetic networks. Studying unpublished corpora, the project finally aims to experiment with performance by highlighting the interactive, spatial and scopic dimensions of medieval counterpoint.
Candidates are encouraged to develop an original approach to this research and to enrich it with their own experiences and skills, in agreement with the other members of the project.
The project team, under the direction of Prof. Agathe Sultan, includes 1 doctoral student and 2 post-doctoral researchers.
