Company Description
At Swansea University, our mission is to educate students, engage the community, and enrich the Swansea University experience. We achieve this by providing a series of advice, guidance, and support services that assist and empower students to achieve their highest educational potential; remove barriers to learning; strengthen readiness to learn; and sustain a safe and healthy Swansea University community.
History
Founded in 1920 as University College of Swansea, the institution welcomed its first cohort of 89 students, including eight women. The foundation stone was laid by King George V on 19 July 1920. Initially focused on science and engineering disciplines, the university expanded over the decades to encompass a wide range of academic fields. In 1996, it was renamed the University of Wales Swansea, and in 2007, it formally became Swansea University, reflecting its status as an independent degree-awarding institution.
