Position Details

Position Description

The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, Division of Anatomic Pathology (AP) in University of Washington, seeks an Anatomic Pathologist to join our Gynecologic (GYN) Pathology and Genitourinary (GU) Pathology subspecialty services as an Assistant Professor, on the regular track, without tenure due to funding. The primary clinical service responsibilities will be case sign out in these diagnostic services as well as the associated teaching of medical/PA students, post-sophomore fellows, residents, and subspecialty fellows. UW AP faculty on these services also participate in intraoperative consultation service/on-call rotations. The successful candidate is expected to interact and foster relationships with clinicians and participate in interdisciplinary conferences associated with these services. They will be expected to collaborate with molecular pathology colleagues to advance precision medicine in GYN pathology.

 

Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, teaching experience and development of traditional or non-traditional educational materials.

 

Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.  This position is full-time, non-tenured, and remains open until filled with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027, but is flexible.

 

The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professor range: $20,659 to $25,182 per month ($247,902 to $302,183 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess an MD, DO, or an MD/PhD (or foreign equivalent) be board certified in anatomic pathology and have completed a formal GYN Fellowship training program. The candidate must have expertise in GYN and GU pathology and must demonstrate a record of collaborative or independent research. Must be eligible for a license to practice medicine in Washington State. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H1-B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
