The Nanomaterials in Health lab at Empa in St. Gallen is a highly motivated team of biologists and chemists dedicated to understanding and controlling interactions between particles and biological systems. To this end, we use cell-based models that are clinically and diagnostically relevant. These allow us to develop safe and functional solutions in the biomedical field.
Your tasks
- In collaboration with our researchers, you will work on scientific interdisciplinary projects in the field of nanomaterial – cell/tissue interactions
- They use, improve and develop complex biological in vitro models and methods
- You maintain and service the laboratories/infrastructure and take responsibility for the department’s ordering system
- You are committed to the training of young scientists
Your profile
- Completed apprenticeship as a biology laboratory technician with professional experience
- Sound knowledge of cell and molecular biology as well as experience in handling cells and complex in vitro models
- Independent, reliable and goal-oriented working style
- Interest in taking on responsibility in a team, tackling new tasks and acquiring the necessary specialist knowledge
- Open and communicative personality who enjoys working in a multidisciplinary environment
- Good oral and written skills in German and English as well as proficient IT user skills (MS Office)
- Experience in immunostaining and microscopy as well as in the basics of “omics” technologies and immunology is desirable
- Experience and enjoyment in training learners and students
