Job Description

The Department of Public and Organizational Health / Center for Salutogenesis (Prof. Georg Bauer) at the University of Zurich is working on promoting positive health development in a changing working world, particularly in the healthcare sector, currently in the Human-Centered Healthcare project.

As a doctoral student, you will be part of a 40-month, transdisciplinary research project on human-centered co-creation of care, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. The project investigates how healthcare professionals and patients can jointly shape care processes with the goal of both enabling a more active role for patients and improving the quality of working life for healthcare professionals.

Your dissertation will focus on the perspective of nurses. You will research how co-creation influences their work experience, well-being, and professional identity, and how positive co-creation can be promoted. To this end, you will collaborate with several research teams (Public & Organizational Health, Health Services Research, Ethics, Nursing Science, Design) and four partner clinics in Switzerland.

Tasks

  • Development of survey instruments
  • Collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data
  • Write scientific publications and present your results at specialist conferences
  • Participation in the research team with a focus on work and health and innovations in healthcare, both at the individual and systemic level.

profile

  • University Master’s degree in social sciences, preferably in work and organizational psychology
  • Strong interest in and prior knowledge of work and health
  • Experience in planning, conducting, evaluating and writing up empirical research
  • Very good knowledge of quantitative research methodology and statistical software (SPSS, R)
  • Very good knowledge of German (essential for field research)
  • Very good knowledge of English
  • Enthusiasm for practical research
  • Commitment, initiative, flexibility and teamwork
