Responsibilities
The Faculty of Business Administration (University of Hamburg Business School) is seeking a junior professor (W1) for an endowed professorship for Digital Transformation in Retail. The professorship is co-financed through an endowment granted by the EDEKA ZENTRALE Stiftung & Co. KG. The appointment is limited to a fixed term of 3+3 years without tenure track. The endowed professorship is central to the efforts of the University of Hamburg Business School regarding the core objectives internationalization, digitalization, and transfer. In addition, the endowed professorship is a strategic core component of the planned establishment of a University of Hamburg Center for Technology, Innovation and Market Entry, which will drive forward the faculty’s efforts in the areas of digitalization, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Your primary responsibilities involve conducting research and obtaining further scientific qualifications in the field of Information Systems, particularly in the digital transformation of incumbent firms, especially in retail, the founding and management of entrepreneurial firms with digital business models, and managing artificial intelligence in firms. In addition, your responsibilities include:
- Development and implementation of a study program at the bachelor level on the topic of responsible, sustainable, effective, and ethical use of (generative) artificial intelligence. The professor may also develop study programs at the master level.
- Participation in the establishment of the University of Hamburg Center for Technology, Innovation and Market Entry.
- Support and joint supervision of student start-up projects in the existing Digital Innovation Lab under the Information Systems and Digital Innovation Nucleus Professorship.
- Contribute to the organization of the Academia meets Industry roundtables and similar transfer formats.
- Contribute to organizing an annual Digital Innovation Summer School at the master level.
Your profile
This endowed junior professorship is aimed at early career researchers. Ideally, you will have an outstanding academic track record and research experience in the professorship field.
Our expectations:
- relevant, internationally recognized publications in the following research areas
- digital innovation
- digital transformation
- artificial intelligence
- experience in teaching in one of the following areas:
- artificial intelligence
- innovation
- entrepreneurship
Applicants are also expected to:
- have an outstanding doctorate.
- hold a doctorate completed less than 4 years prior (a standard period of 2 years per child granted for parental and care leave). The junior professor will be subjected to an interim evaluation after three years.
Ideally, you will also have:
- Initial international scientific experience
- Initial experience in interdisciplinary work
- Initial experience in the acquisition and management of third-party funded projects
- Knowledge in the field of retail.
