Missions

The study engineer will support the H+ database (hplus.ore.fr), integrating hydrogeophysical data from the OZCAR research infrastructure (https://www.ozcar-ri.org/). He/she will contribute to structuring and harmonizing practices and tools for the collection, processing, storage, and dissemination of 4D data (3D imagery repeated over time and with high spatial and temporal density).

Activities

The position holder will work at the interface between data producers, database developers and users at the different stages of the 4D data lifecycle. He/she will contribute to:
• Developing formats and thesauri for the integration of 4D data, in consultation with the project team, producers and users
• Harmonizing practices and developing automatic processing and data qualification tools to feed databases and various metadata portals
• Designing and implementing technical and functional training actions for 4D database tools
• Providing functional and/or technical assistance to scientists and engineers at observatories to help with the creation, structuring, description and deposit of 4D datasets
• Monitoring the updating of dataset versions in compliance with the principles of Open Science and the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable)
• Writing and updating technical and functional documentation
• Supporting users in discovering data and coordinating the development of data dissemination tools (4D visualization, etc.)
* Participating in the animation of the user community within of OZCAR (thematic day, etc.) and to the website.

SKILLS

Knowledge
• Programming knowledge (python, matlab)
• Desired knowledge of measurement methods in geophysics/hydrology/critical zone

• Experience in coordinating scientific projects
• Experience in using databases (data insertion and extraction)

Work context

Over the past ten years, OSUR has developed unique expertise and European leadership in hydrogeophysical imaging of the critical zone. To archive and make this data available, we have developed a 4D database hosting the entire hydrogeophysical dataset of the OZCAR infrastructure (https://www.ozcar-ri.org/fr). In this context, this database coordinator position has been renewed annually for the past 10 years through co-funding from IR OZCAR, OSUR and the Géosciences Rennes laboratory. Thus, this fixed-term contract may be followed by a longer contract depending on the funding available in 2026.
