Job Description
The Chair of Plant Breeding at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) / TUM School of Life Sciences is seeking to fill a PhD position (TV-L E13, 75%) as soon as possible. Research at the chair focuses on the development of molecular and statistical methods for plant breeding and the analysis of plant genomic data.
Requirement
- Completed Master’s degree in plant breeding, (bio)statistics or related fields with above-average academic performance
- Knowledge of statistical software, preferably R
- Background in (quantitative) genetics is a great advantage
- Very good written and spoken English skills
- Ability to work in a team and willingness to collaborate with other research groups
Tasks
- Collaboration in the joint project “HOPTIMIZE” to establish a genomic prediction model for yield stability under drought stress and for cone quality in hops
- Development of genome-assisted breeding in hops
- Application of statistical methods for estimating quantitative trait loci (QTL) and genomic selection
