Job Description

The Chair of Plant Breeding at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) / TUM School of Life Sciences is seeking to fill a PhD position (TV-L E13, 75%) as soon as possible. Research at the chair focuses on the development of molecular and statistical methods for plant breeding and the analysis of plant genomic data.

Requirement

Completed Master’s degree in plant breeding, (bio)statistics or related fields with above-average academic performance
Knowledge of statistical software, preferably R
Background in (quantitative) genetics is a great advantage
Very good written and spoken English skills
Ability to work in a team and willingness to collaborate with other research groups

Tasks

Collaboration in the joint project “HOPTIMIZE” to establish a genomic prediction model for yield stability under drought stress and for cone quality in hops
Development of genome-assisted breeding in hops
Application of statistical methods for estimating quantitative trait loci (QTL) and genomic selection
