PhD position: The role of well-being before, during and after career transitions

PhD @KU Leuven posted 4 days ago

Job Description

Project

People go through a number of transitions in different phases of their careers. This ranges from taking on a different role (e.g. from student to employee, from employee to pension) to taking on a different function or job. Although there is increasing attention for these career transitions, research has mainly focused on the ‘anticipated transitions’ (such as school-to-work) on the one hand and on the research of career outcomes (such as career success) on the other. Within this project, the focus will not be on these career outcomes, but the project specifically focuses on the role of well-being around career transitions. Within this theme, you will have a lot of autonomy as a researcher, under the supervision of Prof. dr. Ilke Grosemans. In addition, you will also provide limited support in education (e.g. supervising project work, administration, etc.).

Profile

  • You have a Master’s degree in Psychology or Educational Sciences, a Master’s degree in Economics and Business Sciences, a Master’s degree in Social Sciences or another social science discipline, with excellent study results. Students who will obtain one of these degrees this academic year are also eligible.
  • You have an affinity with and interest in occupational psychology themes.
  • You have an affinity with and interest in quantitative methods (survey research).
  • You have a good knowledge of English.
  • You enjoy writing and you write well. You want to communicate your results, both in scientific outlets and to a wider audience.
  • You like to work independently.

Offer

  • We offer you a position as a full-time PhD fellow for a period of 4 years, subject to a positive evaluation after one year.
  • As a PhD candidate, you will find yourself in a stimulating and challenging international working environment with a high degree of flexibility and autonomy.
