Job Description
The Postdoctoral scholar will conduct research under the mentorship of Dr. Macarius Donneyong, Associate Professor in the College of Pharmacy at The Ohio State University. The candidate will have the opportunity to learn and lead exciting research projects that blend methods in pharmacoepidemiology with Artificial intelligence (AI)/Machine learning (ML) techniques to generate real-world evidence on the use of prescribed medications, especially among older adults and racial/ethnic minorities.
A strong interest in social determinants of health and health equity research is highly desirable for this position. Under the mentorship of Dr. Donneyong, the postdoctoral scholar will be exposed to research grant proposal developments.
The postdoctoral scholar will lead the development and publications of manuscripts as the lead author under the guidance of the PI and other senior collaborators. To prepare the postdoctoral scholar for a future independent career, the candidate will be required to mentor graduate and undergraduate students within Dr. Donneyong’s research lab.
Required Qualifications: A doctoral degree (PhD, ScD) in Pharmacoepidemiology, Epidemiology, Health Economics, Health Services Research, Statistics/Biostatistics, Biomedical/Health Informatics or Computer Science. Strong quantitative background in pharmacoepidemiologic methods, bioinformatics, causal inference modeling, AI/ML methods. Prior experience with analyzing real-world databases, especially claims and EHR databases. Prior experience with cloud computing. Strong programming skills using at least one of the following programming languages; SAS, R, SQL, or Python. Prior publication of peer-reviewed manuscripts in reputable journals. Strong written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet project deadlines.
