Postdoctoral Position in Red Cell Immunobiology
Postdoc @University of Pennsylvania posted 6 days agoJob Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and intellectually curious postdoctoral fellow to join our lab at the University of Pennsylvania, focused on uncovering the immune functions of red blood cells. Our work bridges basic immunology, translational research, and critical illness, with the goal of redefining how we understand red cell biology in health and disease.
Our current efforts center on understanding how red cell toll-like receptors (TLRs) regulate nucleic acid sensing and immune signaling during inflammatory states such as sepsis. We use a combination of genetically modified mouse models, in vivo models of sepsis, pneumonia, and sterile inflammation, as well as patient-derived samples.
The lab is embedded in a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment, with close ties to the Penn-CHOP Lung Biology Institute, the Center for Translational Lung Biology, the Institute for Immunology and Immune Health, and the Institute for Infectious and Zoonotic Diseases. This network fosters numerous opportunities for cross-disciplinary training and discovery.
Qualifications  Self-motivated, enthusiastic candidates are encouraged to apply. The ideal applicant will have:
An MD/PhD or PhD in Immunology, Microbiology, or a related field.
Experience with mouse models, molecular biology, imaging, and flow cytometry.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Expertise in microbiology or immunology is strongly preferred.
Requirement    Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
