Research assistant in experimental pediatric oncology research

Research Assistant @Karolinska Institutet posted 1 day ago

Job Description

We are running a project in the field of childhood cancer with a focus on neuroblastoma, which is a difficult-to-treat solid tumor that affects young children. We are part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary research environment with translational research from biology to clinical research.

Your role

Conduct research under supervision in experimental cancer research within the above area. The project investigates a specific signaling pathway that has been shown to be important for the childhood cancer neuroblastoma. The work is carried out in close collaboration with another research group that develops radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostics/treatment.

Who are you?

We are looking for a committed and collaborative research assistant with a strong drive to contribute to research in pediatric oncology. To be eligible, an advanced degree (master’s or equivalent) from a Swedish university or college is required, with at least five years of relevant higher education in medicine or a related field.

Documented experience in research in pediatrics or pediatric oncology is particularly advantageous, as well as practical experience in experimental methods suitable for the evaluation of drugs and substances in cells and other models such as organoids. Experience in experimental research with animal models, especially mice and zebrafish, is also particularly advantageous. Previous work with and interest in neuroblastoma research is seen as a strong asset.

We are looking for someone who enjoys and works well in a team, but who is also able to work independently under supervision. You should have a genuine interest in experimental childhood cancer research and a desire to develop within the field
