Job Description

The NUS Environmental Research Institute (NERI) is a university-level research institute that focuses on the development of integrated sustainability solutions for the environment. It collaborates with government agencies, NGOs and leading academic partners to ensure that its research consistently addresses real-world issues.

NERI is currently seeking to employ a Research Fellow with the following roles and responsibilities in a dynamic and multi-disciplinary team:

  • Draft and submit papers and/or reviews in high-impact scientific journals in a multidisciplinary team
  • Present and communicate findings at international and national conferences and events
  • Develop cutting-edge data analysis workflow for large datasets
  • Assist with other initiatives and administrative tasks where required

Qualifications

One or more of (but not limited to) the following:

  • PhD in molecular biology, bioengineering or related degrees would be highly recommended.
  • Proficiency with laboratory safety, handling environmental biological samples.
  • Experience in bioinformatics workflow and utilising code in a UNIX/Linux environment, familiarity with R and some python for biological and multi-omics datasets.
  • Experience in managing, coordinating and achieving project deliverables, including planning, conducting experiments, data analyses, progress reports, data presentation, writing, etc.
  • Dedicated learner capable of conducting independent research,  proficient in literature search and fact checking.
  • Ability to work with and communicate with other experts in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Proven effective team player with strong problem solving skills.
