Our research group is part of the Academy of Finland’s Centre of Excellence in Tumour Genetics Research. The laboratory focuses on the study of transcriptional control of cell growth, using functional genomics and systems biology. Current lines of work include high-throughput determination of binding sites and binding specificities of human transcription factors, using this information to identify regulatory elements that control cell growth during normal development or in cancer.

2. Postdoctoral Fellowship

About Postdoctoral Position

We are looking for a skilled postdoctoral fellow with a bioinformatic, computational, and/or statistical, background in genetics and/or functional genomics at the Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland FIMM, Helsinki Institute of Life Science, HiLIFE in the research groups of Professor Aarno Palotie (Research Group Palotie) and Dr. Olli Pietiläinen (Research Group Pietiläinen). The position is part of research program that aims to discover biological mechanisms in schizophrenia and related neuropsychiatric disorders. The program bridges multidisciplinary group of researchers in the interface of genetic discoveries and multi-omic molecular biology using collections from over 500 000 genotyped participants from clinical and population studies with medical data.

3. Postdoctoral Fellowship

About Postdoctoral Position

The staff scientist 1 will work in atmospheric greenhouse gas measurements. The core activity of the staff scientist is to ensure production of sustainable and traceable high-quality data and data products of greenhouse gas concentrations and ecosystem-atmosphere exchange fluxes. The work includes coordination of data management related to the UH field stations, including raw data storage, processing and documentation, open data processes and curation, cooperation with other research infrastructures in Finland and elsewhere and management of their metadata, ensuring FAIR data management and stewardship. In addition, the tasks include advising SMEAR data end users in data management, data opening and data-analysis.

4. Postdoctoral Fellowship

About Postdoctoral Position

We are looking for a candidate who is able to 1) help in recruiting field sites, 2) lead fieldwork, 3) lead pathogen analysis, 4) work with collaborators in collating other data and eventually 5) analyze and communicate these results in both scientific articles and to lay audiences such as stakeholders and local citizens. The candidate should have completed a PhD in a relevant field, such as zoology, ecology, wildlife biology, microbiology or virology. Previous experience on field work, pathogen analysis in lab, shown track record on publishing in international peer-reviewed journals and excellent communication skills (in English, Finnish and Swedish additional assets) are required.
