1. Postdoctoral Fellowship

About Postdoctoral Position

The successful candidate will work on the development of a trans-disciplinary Decentralized and AsynchroNous Materials Acceleration Platform (DANMAP) to enable accelerated closed-loop discovery of materials for Power2X applications, e.g., catalysts and supports for the electrochemical reduction of H2O, CO2, and N2. DANMAP transcends the traditional sequential process and fully integrates a series of modules targeting a single fundamental materials property or process step goes beyond physical co-location by developing and demonstrating the first decentralized and asynchronous MAP concept, using (REST) API-based interoperable exchange and utilization of data across all process steps, domains, and scales to enable remote access orchestration and process control.

2. Postdoctoral Fellowship

About Postdoctoral Position

The successful candidate will work on the development of a dual/multiple closed-loop discovery (DCLD) process for synthesizing high entropy alloys and oxides (HEA/HEO), e.g., for the electrochemical reduction of CO2 into sustainable fuels and chemicals. The dual loop optimization process consists of a fast inner-loop characterization and slow, yet more rigorous testing and characterization of selected samples to obtain high-fidelity data. The DCLD utilizes a surrogate model that takes both low- and high-fidelity data to determine the optimal design parameters and synthesis conditions, e.g., for spark plasma, hydrothermal, solution-based synthesis or a cluster source. The autonomous DCLD will utilize the high-throughput synthesis robotic systems that integrates several on-the-fly and operando characterization techniques to generate multi-fidelity data, which is used to train the surrogate model.

About Postdoctoral Position

We are involved in several projects on floating wind turbines and are constantly improving our calculation methods through scientific research, validation and application studies. We have a strong tradition for aero-hydro-elastic modelling and are constantly working to support the design and load analysis for tomorrows 20+ MW class wind turbines. This involves experimental work on response of floating wind turbines, development and validation of hydrodynamic load models for steep and breaking waves and scientific analysis of lab data. The modelling is to a great extent integrated in our HAWC2 hydro-servo-aero-elastic code, which we apply and extend on a daily basis.

9. Postdoctoral Fellowship

About Postdoctoral Position

Human energy expenditure is a fundamental characteristic of cycling – we must spend energy pedalling to make the bicycle move. Very little research has however been put into developing network and behavioural models that take the unique aspects of human energy expenditure into account. To address this gap, the research project will formulate a novel modelling paradigm that directly incorporates energy considerations into the modelling framework. This will involve the development of a network model and corresponding route choice models to capture cyclist behaviour. We will utilise these new insights in various ways to explore the potential to improve public health and increase active mobility.

About Postdoctoral Position

Large-scale heat pumps are employed to supply heat to district heating systems or industrial processes. In order to integrate them with the surrounding systems they need to be able to operate robustly under variable boundary conditions. Solar direct drive refrigeration systems are employed as off-grid units, where a reliable connection to the grid is not available. They thereby contribute to securing a closed cold chain and thereby to security of food supply. The operation of these systems follows solar irradiation, requiring advanced control strategies.

About Postdoctoral Position

Our research project is at the forefront of understanding the complex role of the 47-residue-long N-terminus in the activation of tryptophan hydroxylase isoform 2 (TPH2). TPH2 is a brain-specific, multiple domain enzyme, acting as the catalyst for the vital and rate-limiting step in serotonin synthesis. However, the structural details of the N-terminus have remained a tantalizing enigma. The N-terminus boasts a pivotal phosphorylation site (S19) that, when phosphorylated, initiates binding of 14-3-3 proteins that enhances the activity and stability of phosphorylated TPH2. The mystery deepens, as it appears that the N-terminus might be obstructing the active site. As a postdoctoral researcher on our team, you will play a crucial part in our comprehensive and meticulous investigation.

The Postdoc(s) will focus on exploring operational flexibility of electrolyser-based PtX systems and enhancing the cost-effectiveness. The research involves investigating and developing applicable solutions in the areas of electrical power management and thermal energy management. In terms of thermal energy management, one example includes the recovery, storage, and utilization of waste heat generated by low-temperature water electrolyser. Regarding electrical power management, one example involves design and implementation of a hybrid electrolyser/battery setup to ensure that the electrolyser-based PtX facilities can meet grid code requirements, such as low-voltage ride-through and post-fault recovery.

About Postdoctoral Position

We have a successful record of activating molecular nitrogen through the electrochemical Li mediated process. Nevertheless, the potential requirement by using Li is very high and we are therefore looking for alternative method for activating molecular Nitrogen. This can either be by using alternative metals to Li that are much less electronegative or by activating the nitrogen into NOx. Both pathways are considered equally good from a fertilizer standpoint although ammonia could also be used as an energy vector if produced with less energy consumption than now. The work will be focussed on our well-equipped laboratory where we have facilities for synthesis, test and characterization.

27. Postdoctoral Fellowship

About Postdoctoral Position

The work will be focussed around one of our large and very complex Ultra-High-Vacuum (UHV) systems equipped with a mass-selected cluster source that can generate entities ranging from single atoms to 10 nm nanoparticles as well as a magnetron for making different substrates/support materials. The generated clusters can be tested for their reactivity using mass spectrometry in a newly installed high pressure-cell connected directly to the equipment. Some work is also envisioned for producing cluster and nanoparticles which are transferred to other parts of our laboratory where collaborators are performing electrochemical activity measurements. The apparatus is furthermore equipped with XPS, ISS, and TPD which all can be used without contact to air. Further characterization can also be done by scanning probe methods albeit through transfer in a vacuum suitcase. Visiting large scale facilities such as synchrotrons for EXAFS and High-pressure XPS measurements may be envisioned for most promising catalysts.

About Postdoctoral Position

The project is part of a larger project (Nation Scale Social Networks) which investigates representations of social behavior and how predictive such representations are for life outcomes (education levels, income and wealth ranks, unemployment histories) based on registry data at Statistics Denmark. We are currently working on developing dense embeddings of life-event space, based on trajectories of life-events, using ideas from text embeddings (see: Using Sequences of Life-events to Predict Human Lives. That work leverages a recent literature on predicting disease outcomes based on patient records and explainability and interpretability are important considerations in our modeling.

About Postdoctoral Position

Optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) arises from a complex sequence of processes involving transport of electrons across defects in the crystal lattice. The detailed understanding of the mechanisms of charge transport across defects that gives rise to luminescence has been challenging, because we lack methods to probe trapped electrons; we currently only observe the very last step of the complex sequence, i.e., electron-hole recombination. Our recent breakthrough discovery of the infrared photoluminescence (IRPL) signal in a ubiquitous aluminosilicate, feldspar, allows for the first time a non-destructive probe of trapped electrons, thus raising the possibility to decode the complex charge transfer process.
