Missions

A position for a research engineer in molecular biology and epigenetics is open in the “Epigenetic Regulation of Cell Identity” team within the Biotechnology and Cell Signaling Unit (UMR 7242) in Illkirch. The candidate (M/F) will be responsible for adapting and implementing molecular biology and DNA methylation analysis techniques.

Activities

– Carry out molecular biology techniques and experiments (DNA/RNA preparation, PCR, qPCR)
– Optimize DNA methylation analysis techniques
– Develop and implement library preparation protocols for methylome analysis by high-throughput sequencing (RRBS, WGBS, EM-seq)
– Participate in the analysis of methylome data in collaboration with a bioinformatician from the team
– Format and present the results of the analyses during team meetings, project meetings and for the preparation of articles
– Participate in the collective life of the laboratory (stock management, orders, application of hygiene and safety principles and rules, etc.)

SKILLS

– Good general knowledge in molecular biology, epigenetics or development
– Theoretical and practical mastery of basic molecular biology techniques
– Experience with DNA methylation analysis techniques is desirable
– Autonomy
– Ability to manage priorities and work in a team
– Knowledge of good laboratory practices and hygiene and safety rules
– Good level of written and oral English (level B2)

Work context

The Joint Research Unit Biotechnology and Cell Signaling (UMR 7242, CNRS/University of Strasbourg) is located on the campus of the Strasbourg School of Biotechnology (ESBS) in Illkirch. The Unit has approximately 110 people who conduct research on cell signaling pathways and the development of therapeutic strategies.

The candidate (M/F) will join the “Epigenetic Regulation of Cell Identity” team of UMR 7242, which includes 10 people and studies the role of DNA methylation in normal and pathological cells. He/she will be placed under the supervision of the team leader.
