The Turku Collegium for Science, Medicine and Technology (TCSMT) is supported by the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Technology and the Faculty of Medicine. TCSMT now invites applications for four (4) postdoctoral researcher positions at one of the departments at the University of Turku, including Turku School of Economics. Successful applicants may begin their employment on 1.1.2025 at the earliest, 1.5.2025 at the latest. The duration of the positions offered is three years.

Who we are looking for

The candidates considered must have outstanding potential and established excellence in research. Applicants are also expected to have attained other academic achievements. Persons appointed must have completed their doctoral degree no more than five years before the submission deadline for applications. Not included in the net period of five years are family leaves, military service, etc. Persons appointed must have completed their doctoral degree by the end of the application period.

The Board of TCSMT will fill the positions offered based on an international call for applications. The top candidates will be interviewed. Particular attention will be paid to candidates’ international research experience. A successful candidate should have a connection to research conducted at the University of Turku. Candidates are expected to be able to join an existing research group, or to work under the supervision of a senior researcher at the University of Turku. Attention is also paid to how the research of the applicant relates to the collaborative themes of research at the University of Turku. The multidisciplinary nature of the research activity is considered an advantage.

Salary and trial period

The salary is determined in accordance with the university salary system for teaching and research personnel. The salary for Postdoctoral Researcher positions corresponds to a requirement level 5 and in the beginning of employment the part of the pre-estimated personal performance percentage is 17 (current euro-dominated gross salary 3 759 €/month). Progress in the researcher’s personal performance can be taken into account when determining the salary during employment.

The position has a trial period of six months.

Turku Collegium for Science, Medicine and Technology

The Turku Collegium for Science and Medicine (TCSM), was launched in 2008 with funding from the Consortium comprising the University of Turku and Turku School of Economics. The aim of TCSMT is to establish a multidisciplinary, interactive research platform for dynamic scientists in science, medicine and technology. Research at TCSMT includes studies in the fields of e.g. astronomy, biology, biochemistry, biomedicine, biotechnology, chemistry, clinical medicine, computer science, dentistry, future technologies, geology, geography, information technology, materials science and engineering, mathematics, mechanical engineering, nursing science, physics, and statistics.The goal is to establish TCSMT as an integral and permanent part of the University of Turku.
