Job duties and responsibilities include:
- Lead and execute projects focused on the generation and characterization of human blastoids derived from pluripotent stem cells.
- Design and conduct experiments to dissect molecular mechanisms underlying early developmental stages and use state-of-the-art omics (genomics, metabolomics, proteomics) and imaging techniques to characterize cell populations and lineage specification within blastoids and post-implantation models.
- Apply genetic approaches to test functional relationships.
- Develop and optimize protocols for the culture and differentiation of stem cells into blastoid structures and for implantation steps.
- Collaborate with other lab members and external collaborators to integrate multi-disciplinary approaches in studying early human development.
- Mentor junior scientists, postdocs, and students in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific writing.
- Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts, grant proposals, and progress reports.
- Responsible for the maintenance of lab instruments and training new users in their operation (tissue culture equipment).
- Responsible for writing research papers for publication.
The qualifications for this position are as follows:
- Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, Stem Cell Biology, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of postdoctoral experience with a strong publication record.
- Expertise in human pluripotent stem cell culture, differentiation protocols, and organoid or stem-cell-derived embryo models.
- Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, including RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing, and advanced imaging.
- Experience in bioinformatics and analyzing single cell sequencing data is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead independent projects and work collaboratively within a team.
- Background in developmental biology, especially related to early human embryonic development, is an asset.
