About Fully Funded PhD in French and Francophone Studies

The University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, provides a fully funded PhD in French and Francophone Studies. Candidates for the Ph.D. program should be fluent in French and have exhibited academic writing ability.

Eligibility Criteria

Earned master’s degree prior to entering the PhD.
You are expected to have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and subject-specific GPA of 3.5 or above.

PhD Funding Coverage

All Graduate Program in French & Francophone Studies students are awarded a Benjamin Franklin Fellowship, which provides five years of financial support (tuition remission, Penn’s health insurance, and a stipend of $32,255) to students who maintain good academic standing. Summer stipends will also be provided to students. The fellowship requires a two-year teaching assistantship as department service.
