About Fully Funded PhD in Spanish and Portuguese

Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, has a fully funded PhD program in Spanish and Portuguese. The Department of Spanish and Portuguese’s graduate program provides coursework and research supervision in all areas of Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian literature, as well as associated courses in linguistics, film and cultural studies, and theory.

Eligibility Criteria

Earned master’s degree prior to entering the PhD.
You are expected to have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and subject-specific GPA of 3.5 or above.
English language proficiency requirements (non-native English speakers)

PhD Funding Coverage

Every Ph.D. student will receive a five-year financing package. Tuition remission, health insurance benefits, and an annual stipend are provided to graduate students who are admitted with assistantships. The standard 12-month graduate student stipend is $25,000.
