Missions
Research within the framework of the ERC Blackjack project (Monte Carlo methods based on repulsive stochastic processes) or ANR Baccarat, led by Rémi Bardenet. The research team is the same, but the source of funding (ANR or ERC) will depend on the candidate’s profile and the specific topic chosen. http://rbardenet.github.io/#erc
Activities
– Develop new Monte Carlo integration and/or statistical signal processing algorithms – Study their theoretical properties – Participate in the software development of the corresponding open-source toolboxes.
SKILLS
– Thesis in statistics, physics, probability, statistical signal processing or computer science. – autonomy – experience in developing research code in Python/R. – oral communication in front of an audience in English
Work context
CRIStAL was founded on January 1, 2015, under the supervision of the CNRS, the University of Lille 1, and Centrale Lille, in partnership with the University of Lille 3, Inria, and the Institut Mines Telecom. CRIStAL is a member of the interdisciplinary research institute IRCICA – USR CNRS 3380 (www.ircica.univ-lille1.fr). The unit is composed of nearly 430 members (228 permanent and more than 200 non-permanent), including 24 CNRS permanent staff and 31 Inria permanent staff. CRIStAL’s research activities cover themes related to the major scientific and societal challenges of the moment, such as: Big Data, software, images and their uses, human-machine interactions, robotics, control and supervision of large systems, intelligent embedded systems, bioinformatics, etc., with applications in particular in the sectors of industry, commerce, health technologies, and smart grids.
The position is located in a sector covered by the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST), and therefore requires, in accordance with regulations, that your arrival be authorized by the competent authority of the MESR.
