About Master’s Program,
This page contains information concerning the admissions process to the Dr. Bing Zhang Department of Statistics at the University of Kentucky. Master’s Program Degree Eligibility with GPA,
- The minimum undergraduate GPA requirement is 2.75. Graduate requirement is 3.0
- want to analyze real data from other fields, while using their mathematical background
- want to perform data science applications on real data during graduate school
- want to learn to develop novel data science or statistical methods
- programming to produce interpretable results that are mathematically appropriate
Master’s Funding Coverage,
All applicants are automatically considered for Fellowships and Assistantships; no separate application is required.
Assistantships in our department include:
- Approximately 20 hours of work per week
- Full tuition scholarship (resident/non-resident tuition — includes international student tuition) and student health insurance
- Stipends and Fellowships ranging from $22,000 to $23,000 for Fall/Spring semesters
- Designated individual desk space with a desktop computer in shared student offices
- Summer funding opportunities
- Travel funding opportunities
- Opportunities to work in the Predictive Analytics and Data Science Hubon real data analyses
- UK covers fees that are mandatory for all students. Some students may be responsible for additional fees (g., international fee, course lab fees). For specific details, please email statoffice@uky.edu.

- Personal Statement.
- GRE is optional.
- If your primary language is not English, language screening (e.g. TOEFL) is required. For minimum language screening requirements, see the graduate school bulletin.
- Minimum requirements: a three or four semester sequence in calculus and a course in linear algebra.
- Prior course work in probability and/or statistics is desirable, but not required.
