About Master’s Program,
The Biology graduate program offers a close-knit academic environment that leads to an M.S. or M.A. in Biology. Our graduates have specialized training in their chosen sub-disciplines and the communication and teaching skills needed to function effectively within a broad-based scientific community.
Our graduate students conduct research with faculty ranging in topics from molecular genetics, to biomath, and ecology. For more information about faculty research interests, see our faculty directory. Most graduate students will publish their thesis research in highly respected journals.

Master’s Funding Coverage,
When the committee for an A&S graduate program recommends a student’s admission, it also recommends the level (if any) and kind of financial support offered to the admitted student. The Office of Graduate Studies considers these recommendations and makes them official.
If admitted, we suggest that you carefully weigh your projected costs and the financial package you are offered, as these will determine factors in your overall budget for the duration of your graduate study.
Depending on your degree program, an admitted student’s financial package might include a tuition waiver, a teaching assistantship, or a research assistantship through a grant administered by your advisor in your program.
In addition, supplemental funding for research and conference travel is available. External funding agencies may be a source for supplemental funding. During the academic year, the weekly Graduate A&S Newsletter lists funding opportunities.
