Fully Funded Master of Applied Science in Biomedical Engineering at McMaster University

About Master’s Program,

Students must take a minimum of three half-year graduate courses, with one being a 700-level core course in biomedical engineering (12 weeks of instruction broken into four equal modules – biomaterials and tissue engineering, biomedical imaging, biophotonics, and medical robotics). At least two of the courses must be at the 700 level.

For students from health/life sciences backgrounds, one of the two courses beyond the core course must be from Engineering offerings. For students from engineering backgrounds, one of the two courses beyond the core course must be from the Health Sciences offerings.

Master’s Program Degree Eligibility with GPA,   

Min B+ (77-79%) in final 2 years

Honours Bachelor’s Degree (4 Year) in Engineering, Sciences, or equivalent.

Applicants are required to submit evidence of their proficiency in the English language as part of their application. The most common evidence is a score

TOEFL: Faculty of Engineering a minimum score of 88 (internet-based) or 230 on the (computer-based) or 570 (paper-based)

IELTS (Academic): minimum overall score of 6.5, with at least 5.5 in each section

Master’s Funding Coverage,

Full time MASc students receive funding from the department/supervisor in the form of scholarships and/or teaching assistantships (funding is for 24 months). Full time PhD students receive funding from the department/supervisor in the form of scholarships and/or teaching assistantships (funding is for 48 months).
