About Master’s Program,
The Master of Education (MEd) program is designed for individuals from a variety of backgrounds and occupations who have an interest in advancing their knowledge of education. We offer full and part-time study options with a Course-based Pathway (CBP) and two Research pathways: Major Research Paper (MRP) or Thesis. Full-time students in the thesis pathway are eligible for funding.
For students in the CBP or Research Pathways, the option to complete up to two concentrations in areas of interest is available. Options include:
- Administration, Leadership and Policy,
- Adult and Postsecondary Education
- Curriculum and Pedagogy
- Educational Psychology: Teaching, Learning and Wellness
- Social Justice, Power and Politics in Education
Consult the Graduate Calendar for more details about the concentrations offered and course content.
Master’s Program Degree Eligibility with GPA,
To be considered for admission to a Master’s program, a student will normally hold a four-year degree, or its equivalent, from an accredited university with a minimum 75% (mid-B) average over the last two years of full-time undergraduate study.
Some graduate programs may have additional or higher admission requirements. Check the specific admission requirements for the graduate program to which you wish to apply. You can also refer to the graduate calendar for additional information.
Candidates who do not meet the admission requirements may be recommended to upgrade. At the successful completion of the upgrading year, students may be reconsidered for admission into the master’s program.
Master’s Funding Coverage,
We provide funding opportunities to graduate students in several forms, including graduate fellowships, scholarships and awards, bursaries and employment income. Graduate funding may vary based on student type and degree pathway and is communicated to students within an offer of admission.
The annual graduate fellowship is divided equally amongst the three terms (Fall, Winter and Spring) and posted to your student financial account (my.brocku.ca) at the beginning of each term, and will be directly applied to any outstanding tuition.
The fellowship is not available for part-time students. For students with a remaining positive balance, a refund may be requested after the last day to add/drop course.
Any other awards or scholarships are one-time lump sum payments posted to your financial account at the beginning of the relevant term.
