About Master’s Program,
The Master of Arts in Communication degree requires all students to complete 30 credit hours.
Incoming students are expected to have had at least twelve hours of appropriate undergraduate work in communication. Should the graduate faculty believe there is a deficiency in the applicant’s undergraduate work in communication, students may be required to enroll in additional undergraduate classes that do not count toward the master’s degree.
Master’s Program Degree Eligibility with GPA,
Undergraduate students who have completed at least 90 credit hours (can be in progress).
Students’ undergraduate majors must be communication, journalism, integrated strategic communication, media arts and studies or information communication technology.
Undergraduate GPA must be at least 3.5 in the major and a 3.2 overall.
Master’s Funding Coverage,
The College of Communication and Information offers a variety of opportunities for graduate students to obtain funding.
Students who present research at major communication conferences are eligible to receive funding for conference travel. Students can apply for conference travel awards.
The amount of funding available per year varies, but individual students have received $800-1000 annually for travel support (sometimes more if funds permit).
