About Master’s Program,

Grounded in a caring community of faith-based scholars, we guide the preparation of individuals for transformative global leadership in curriculum, teaching and learning, who shape the future through research and practice that addresses complex issues with innovation and creativity.

The Master of Science in Education (MSEd) is a residential, 36-semester-hour program, including a 15-hour cognate specialization and a comprehensive exam. The program is designed to improve educational practice and develop an understanding of educational thought.

The MSEd may be completed on a part-time or full-time basis. Full-time students typically complete the program in 15 months.

Master’s Program Degree Eligibility with GPA,

The Master of Arts (MA) in Education is a residential, 33-semester-hour program, including a 12-hour cognate specialization and successful completion and defense of a thesis. The program is designed to develop a scholarly understanding of educational thought and practice. The program is designed to improve educational practice and to provide preparation for continued graduate studies in education.

Master’s Funding Coverage,

Assistantship and scholarship opportunities make the cost of Baylor’s MA program competitive with other programs at both public and private universities nationwide.

Graduate Assistant positions are competitive and require an additional review process beyond the process for admission.

There are limited Graduate Assistant positions available to support full-time MA students. GAs assist professors with research, teach courses in Baylor’s teacher education program, or otherwise work in one of Baylor’s Professional Development Schools.

Stipends are competitive with what is offered by other leading universities. In addition to stipends, GAs receive various amounts of tuition remission. Part-time students may be eligible for tuition scholarship in various amounts.

In addition to assistantships, students may be able to work on grant projects administered by faculty members. We encourage potential students to contact faculty within their field of interest to see if grant-funded positions will be open.
