About Master’s Program,
The MFA in Cinematic Arts seeks to embrace a full range of cinematic practices from single-channel theatrical exhibition to gallery and multi-channel installations. Our faculty members, key figures in nonfiction, experimental and fiction filmmaking, encourage students to consider diverse theoretical frameworks, processes and methods of contemporary moving image practices in this graduate program.
Master’s Program Degree Eligibility with GPA,
Please review the minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) requirements for graduate degrees. You are encouraged to refer to the program pages as some programs may have higher admission requirements.
Master’s programs typically require applicants to have completed a bachelor’s/baccalaureate (or equivalent) with high standing. High standing can be defined as honours, specialization, a GPA equivalent to B average.
Fully-qualified candidates are required to complete a minimum of 45 credits.

Tuition and fees of the program may depend on your student status, among other key factors. Estimate these costs based on the most common situations.
Funding packages are generally available for students in thesis-based programs. They come in the form of awards, teaching and research assistantships are offered at the time of admission to most students to allow them to focus on their research and studies. Research and thesis-based students are automatically considered for all entrance graduate awards when they apply to Concordia, provided they meet eligibility criteria. No separate application is required.

Attach the following documents to the your Concordia Admissions application. Please note that documents can also be uploaded after an application has been submitted.
- Your application must include a transcriptfrom each university-level institution(s) previously attended
- Statement of Purpose (500 words max)
- CV/Resume and Filmography
- Three letters of reference:
You will be asked to provide current email addresses for three referees. Concordia will email a unique link directly to your referees. They will be prompted to complete the assessment form online and upload a letter of reference. Your referees will have access to the link for 14 days. Reference letters must be received no later than February 1 - All other required documents
