Biomedical Graduate Education at Georgetown University offers a variety of master’s, Ph.D. and certificate programs, including traditional and online formats, to accommodate students at all stages of their career — from recent graduates to seasoned professionals.
Georgetown University offers a variety of basic and clinical sciences doctoral degree programs. All programs offer summer admission and are typically completed in five years. They feature a core curriculum requiring instructional coursework, laboratory rotations, programmatic activities such as seminars and journal clubs, and defense and submission of an original research dissertation.
Many of our Ph.D. students are supported in their studies by T32 training grants.
PhD Program Degree Eligibility with GPA,
- GPA must be calculated based upon a 4.0 grade scale
- Applicants for admission must meet certain eligibility requirements set by the Graduate School and the Graduate Departments and Programs. Applicants are admitted by the Dean of the Graduate School. Admitted applicants who confirm their intended enrollment with the Office of Graduate Admissions will be eligible to participate in Graduate Student Orientation and registration activities.

Georgetown offers two kinds of financial aid to graduate students: merit-based aid and need-based aid. Our separate Office of Graduate Fellowships & Awards can assist in navigating external funding.
We offer four types of competitive merit-based scholarships to both incoming and current students: scholarships, Ph.D. assistantships, Ph.D. fellowships and Master’s stipends. Merit-based awards are given on the recommendation of each academic program and are designed to assist graduate students in their academic pursuits.

The application must be submitted with a non-refundable application fee. The application fee for the 2024 application cycle is $90. The fee can be paid by Visa or MasterCard only.
