About PhD Program,
Thank you for your interest in the Ph.D. Program in Performance Studies at UC Davis. Our program is designed to prepare students for advanced research in the dynamic field of Performance Studies. As a Graduate Group, the Performance Studies Program at U.C. Davis is unique. We draw accomplished faculty from across the university. While we assume your ideas will evolve once you are taking classes, we believe prospective students should have an understanding of their educational goals. Successful applications often articulate potential projects and areas of research. The Personal History and Diversity Statement and Statement of Purpose are designed to help us learn more about you and ultimately understand your place in our program.

The priority application deadline for the PhD program in Performance Studies is December 1st.
PhD Program Degree Eligibility with GPA,
- A minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) from the institution where you have earned or will earn your bachelor’s degree.
- By the time they enroll, successful applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent that is comparable to a degree from the University of California both in distribution of academic subject matter and in scholarship achievement. Regional accreditation for U.S. institutions and authorization by a national higher education authority for international institutions (at the time the degree was earned) are used as the eligibility standard.
- Applicants must submit TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo scores unless they have earned or will be earning a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree from either a regionally accredited or foreign college/university which provides instruction solely in English. - A non-refundable application fee ($135 for domestic applicants, $155 for international applicants, or possible fee waiver for participants in approved Graduate Preparatory Programs).

UC Davis provides a variety of sources of financial assistance to help students meet educational and living expenses. Whether you are a prospective student, a current graduate student, or a postdoctoral scholar, we want to make sure you know about the forms of funding available to you.
The nature of funding varies widely, ranging from large competitive fellowships that pay tuition and stipends, to targeted grants that assist with foreign language study, dissertation research, and conference travel, to emergency grants and awards designed to help students manage student loan debt.

- Upload unofficial academic transcripts from all prior institutions.
