About PhD Program,

The Ph.D. program combines UCR’s tradition as a major research university with the expertise at the School of Business in leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship. The UCR School of Business is located in a living laboratory — one of the fastest growing regions in California at the nexus of international trade and commerce, the perfect environment to research and explore business in today’s complex marketplace. The Ph.D. program trains graduate students in the design and execution of original research in its areas of concentration.

The UCR School of Business only accepts Ph.D. applications every few years. Please check the area specific pages for the next admission cycle for the respective programs.

PhD Program Degree Eligibility with GPA,

  • A bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent, from an accredited institution. The degree must represent the completion of a program equivalent in subject matter and scholarship to that offered by the University of California.
  • A minimum of a 3.0 undergraduate GPA or B-equivalent (if GPA is not on a 4.0 scale) is required. It is important to note that some programs may have a higher standard for their GPA requirement, and you should consult with the program directly for further information.
  • If your GPA is below 3.0, you should consult with the program directly for further information. Applications are reviewed holistically and the program can advise you on potential admission.
  • All applications are initially reviewed by the graduate program before a recommendation is submitted to the Graduate Division for final approval. Please visit the graduate program’s website for any program-specific requirements.

PhD Funding Coverage,

UCR offers a variety of multi-year fellowship packages for incoming students that may include stipends, full or partial payment of tuition and fees, and appointments as a Teaching Assistant (TA) or Graduate Student Researcher (GSR). Ph.D. applicants must complete the Supplemental Fellowship Form as an attachment to the UCR Graduate Application for Admission. This form will be reviewed as part of your submitted graduate application.
