This training position, under the direct supervision of a Cleveland Clinic Principal Investigator will provide practical training and experience in a research setting. This position is appointed through the Lerner Research Institute. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a commitment to research, a collaborative work ethic and strong communication skills, both written and verbal. This program is expected to be completed within 5 years.

We seek an enthusiastic candidate for the position of postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Timothy Chan, the Chair of the Center for Immunotherapy and Precision Immuno-Oncology at the Cleveland Clinic. The postdoctoral position is for highly motivated candidates with a background in molecular/cellular biology, immunology, and/or genetics to join a research group interested in cancer genomics and immunotherapy research.  Projects will involve using molecular biological and genomics strategies to identify and characterize genetic determinants of cancer progression and therapeutic response. Applicants should hold a PhD and/or MD degree and have strong laboratory and analytical skills.  Experience in molecular biology, immunology, bioinformatics, or cancer genetics would be very helpful.

Lab Research Topics:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Independent project design with the goal of data generation, analysis, interpretation and manuscript preparation
  • Conducts research focused on immunotherapy and cancer genomics
  • Plans, organizes, performs and monitors daily project protocols
  • Collects, prepares and maintains required research documentation, including informed consent records, case records, clinical notes and medical reports
  • Reports and assists with the management of protocol deviations, adverse events and other project-related issues

Education:

  • PhD or MD/PhD required
  • MD with relevant laboratory experience may substitute for PhD

Languages:

  • English Proficiency proof required for candidates arriving on J-1, J-2, or F1 +
  • OPT visa status

Work Experience:

  • Previous experience in a research or academic setting.  Graduate student experience meets this requirement.
  • Scientific writing experience

Additional Preferred Qualities:

  • PhD in Biology, Immunology, Chemistry, Microbiology or a related field
  • Strong publication record in relevant fields
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
  • Ability to distinguish color
  • Manual dexterity to handle specimens and repair equipment
  • Ability to lift and transport equipment or specimens weighing up to 20 pounds
  • May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, bio-hazards, radioactive materials, etc.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $0.01

Maximum hourly: $333,340.26

A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education.
