1. Postdoctoral Fellowship
About Postdoctoral Position
The aim of the project is to develop a hybrid “heterogeneous and bio- catalytic” approach for chemical synthesis from CO2. This project is funded by the EPSRC UK Catalysis Hub and is in partnership with the University of Aberdeen, University of Utah, and Tianjin University. This project will involve a significant amount of collaboration between the UK and international teams with testing of the developed system being conducted likely in all countries.
2. Postdoctoral Fellowship
About Postdoctoral Position
The technology to be developed is a digitally intelligent controlled Pinweld plastic pipe welding system. The system will be designed to join polymer pipes without defects and will be coupled with sophisticated machine-learning algorithms, enabling the joints to be optimised and recorded, whatever the application and climate. The system will be developed with advanced sensing, data processing, and machine learning to achieve accurate process monitoring, autonomous quality inspection after welding, and real-time leakage detection. This would bring a level of control to plastic pipe installation never before available.
3. Postdoctoral Fellowship
About Postdoctoral Position
We are seeking to appoint a Senior Research Associate to work on TUDOR (Towards Ubiquitous 3D Open Resilient Network), an exciting new DSIT project that will address the key challenges involved in developing network components that enable seamless interoperability in heterogeneous networks of 5G and future technologies, including terrestrial, airborne (HAPS) and satellite networks. The TUDOR consortium brings together more than 20 partners, including world-leading researchers from UK universities, innovative equipment vendors, major network operators and network/software and system integrators from both space and terrestrial sectors. TUDOR aims to develop open network technologies that will underpin the next generation of mobile networks.

About Postdoctoral Position
QMol will realise a new generation of switchable organic/organometallic compounds, with the potential to fulfil societal needs for flexible energy harvesting materials, low-power neuromorphic computing, smart textiles and self-powered patches for healthcare. The possibility of creating these exciting materials derives from a series of world firsts by the investigators, demonstrating that advantageous room-temperature quantum interference effects can be scaled up from single molecules to self-assembled monolayers, and new strategies for controlling molecular conformation and energy levels, and new methods of molecular assembly, which can be deployed in printed scalable architectures.
5. Postdoctoral Fellowship
About Postdoctoral Position
You will be expected to participate in research combining geospatial data with machine learning and computer vision techniques, in order to automatically detect icebergs and sea ice in synthetic aperture radar satellite imaging. The purpose of this is primarily maritime safety and the research will be combined with a drive to bring this system towards commercialisation, through forging and nurturing contacts in the maritime industry. This will ultimately lead to real-time tests of the system with maritime industry stakeholders.

6. Postdoctoral Fellowship
About Postdoctoral Position
The broad aim of this position is to produce and test algorithms and other infrastructure that could later be used to generate specific joint Derived Data Products (DDPs), as defined by the Rubin-Euclid DDP process (Guy et al., 2022, https://arxiv.org/abs/2201.03862). The immediate focus is on algorithms for joint Rubin+Euclid time-domain photometry (i.e. multi-band light curves) of transients and other point sources. The work will involve analysis of data from the Euclid mission, and simulations or precursor datasets that mimic the expected data from the Rubin observatory. The work will be coordinated with that of a similar position at the University of Southampton, focused on list-driven galaxy photometry, and with activities in the wider international Rubin and Euclid collaborations. The successful candidate would be expected to join these collaborations.
7. Postdoctoral Fellowship
About Postdoctoral Position
Applications are invited for a research associate to work in the group of Dr Xiao Hua to develop the next-generation cathodes for K-ion batteries (KIBs). This position is funded by EPSRC and will be based in the Department of Chemistry at Lancaster University. You will prepare and optimise a series of novel metal fluorides for the KIB cathode applications. The key objective is to develop a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between the structure topology of the metal fluoride frameworks and their electrochemical properties. The department is equipped with a range of routine characterisation techniques (e.g. XRD, SEM, Raman, FTIR), as well as advanced local structure methods such as X-ray PDF and solid-state NMR.
