We are seeking a postdoctoral research assistant to join the group of Dr Mirjana Efremova in the Centre for Genomics and Computational Biology, to work on a CRUK funded project to investigate the role of cell plasticity in metastasis in colorectal cancer. Our lab is focused on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying cell plasticity in metastasis and therapy resistance. We use single-cell multiomics and spatial transcriptomics data from patient samples and patient-derived organoids (Efremova et al. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Space Plasma group at Queen Mary University of London to work on a project exploring the controlling role that turbulence plays in the inner heliosphere using plasma simulations and data analysis. The post is funded by STFC as part of a Consolidated Grant. The project will use plasma simulations to study how turbulence can control the key plasma processes of particle energization, shock dynamics, and turbulence-driven reconnection. The successful candidate will seek to develop new fabrication techniques for membranes based around phase inversion, crosslinking, interfacial polymerisation, and coating. In addition to creating new membranes, they will characterise membrane morphology, determine membrane performance, and relate the polymer type and membrane morphology to this performance. They will also engage in research into membrane fouling and flux decline, and seek to understand the solute journey in a synthetic membrane. We will be working to pioneer new membranes with improved performance in terms of selectivity, robustness and permeance and we are looking for a creative and insightful approach. We will also be considering how to make any new membranes in roll-to-roll processing, after lab bench proving tests. The candidate will also be expected to work in teams applying these membranes to a diverse ranges of applications including refining, drug synthesis and biobased products. About Postdoctoral Position

The post-holder will be working within the Bone and Joint Health Group, within the Centre of Neuroscience, Surgery and Trauma Centre at the Blizard Institute. The Research Assistant will be part of the study, ‘Development of a Stratified Model of Care for Acute Rehabilitation after Hip Fracture’. The research project is aimed to develop and test the feasibility of a stratified approach to rehabilitation after hip fracture surgery. Participants will be allocated to rehabilitation based on their predicted risk of poor outcome. The project is funded by UK Research & Innovation and running between 2020-2025 (with possibility of subsequent extension). The Research Assistant will directly support the Professor of Rehabilitation, Katie Sheehan who is the PI for the study. The Research Assistant will actively participate and contribute to work package 3 and 4 of the project, particularly on data collection and analysis, and on public and patient involvement. The Research Assistant will also play a key role in supporting the application development for funding extension.
