1. Postdoctoral Fellowship

About Postdoctoral Position

In this project you will identify alternatives to the uses of persistent and mobile (PM) substances (including per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)) and build an alternatives database in collaboration with other researchers. You will also carry out chemical alternative assessments for selected uses of PM substances and PFAS substances using existing and newly developed methods. The employee will work in a team consisting of several senior researchers and three PhD students. The postdoctoral fellow would be part of a research group under the unit for “Contaminant Chemistry” led by Ian Cousins.

2. Postdoctoral Fellowship

About Postdoctoral Position

Stockholm University (SU) and University of Helsinki (HU) have entered into a strategic partnership where one of the key areas is Baltic Sea research within the Centre for Coastal Ecosystem and Climate Change Research (CoastClim; www.coastclim.org/) scientists from both universities explore the links between coastal biodiversity, carbon cycling, and climate feedbacks. To strengthen this joint research initiative, we are now inviting applications for one postdoctoral position focused on coastal microbial ecology in the Baltic Sea.

3. Postdoctoral Fellowship

About Postdoctoral Position

The position is associated with the EFRA project on food saftey with the main goal to deliver the first analytics-enabled, secure-by-design, green data space for AI-enabled food risk prevention. To this end it will utilize NLP, Natural Language Processing, machine learning and explainable methods for knowledge discovery from heterogeneous data sources (including multilingual data).

The intention is to build a novel data management and analytic framework, based on three pillars: (1) Data hub – searchable data integration of heterogenous data, (2) Analytic tools – used together with the data hub to distill and combine useful insights regarding food safety from available data, and (3) Data and Analytics marketplace – a single resource for stakeholders in food safety to interact with both data and predictions methods for food safety.

6. Postdoctoral Fellowship

About Postdoctoral Position

We are seeking a post-doctoral fellow with a broad vision and passion to develop novel and sustainable routes of biomass fractionation, and development of hybrid fibres with functional properties and characterization of fibers /nanofibers. Forest residues, nettle and seagrass will be used as biomass sources. The task is to develop processes for the intelligent use of novel and plant feedstock for fibres extraction as well as tuning of the fibre properties during refining (extraction from cell wall) to address specific end product needs. The selected candidate will work in the group of Prof Aji Mathew at MMK and with Prof Joseph Samec´s group at the Department of Organic Chemistry.

9. Postdoctoral Fellowship

About Postdoctoral Position

This recruitment is connected to the Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability (WISE, wise-materials.org). WISE, funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, is the largest-ever investment in materials science in Sweden and will encompass major efforts at Sweden’s foremost universities over the course of 10 years. The vision is a sustainable future through materials science.

The project aims to explore new approaches on design and synthesis of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for removal of CO2. The novel materials are expected to be used as sorbents for CO2 capture and catalysts for CO2 reduction reactions. Electron diffraction will be used to study the crystal structures and properties of the MOFs.
