Master’s Program Degree Eligibility with GPA,   

The Office of Admissions requires official transcripts of all college-level course work. To be considered official, transcripts must arrive in sealed envelopes from each institution attended, be directly emailed from an official college staff member, or be submitted electronically through a secure transcript service. Transcripts emailed by students or faxed transcripts will not be considered official.

  • Final and official transcripts are required from every institution attended.
  • If you are still taking classes, an in-progress transcript can be submitted for admission. A final transcript will be required after grades are posted.
  • Transcripts from University of Alaska Fairbanks, University of Alaska Anchorage or University of Alaska Southeast, or any rural campuses of these institutions are waived.

  • In addition to offering one of the most accessible and affordable mechanical engineering master’s degrees in the region, UAF supports you on your educational journey by offering fully funded teaching assistant and research assistant positions.

Application Requirement,

To be considered for admission, we typically require candidates to have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 (equivalent to a B grade) and a GPA of 3.0 (B) or higher in their major. To apply, please submit the following materials:

  • Resume
  • Statement of goals
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • GRE* or GMAT test scores (see test scores tab for details.)
  • The major’s department may ask for additional requirements. Please refer to the graduate degree requirements by major lookup pagefor additional requirements and materials for your program.
