The PhD in Nursing and Health Science program offers a rich and supportive learning environment for the next generation of nursing and health care scientists.
The PhD in Nursing & Health Science program at the University of Rochester sets itself apart by offering close mentorship from nationally-recognized faculty. Part-time study is an option for interested applicants, and course meetings times have been consolidated to two days per week, where possible, to accommodate other commitments. PhD Program Degree Eligibility with GPA,
Applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible for the PhD in Nursing & Health Science program:
Master’s degree from an accredited school
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 from any graduate-level work
Clinical licensure in a health profession, such as nursing, social work, or similar clinical practice field
English language proficiency
Statistics course with a grade of C or above
PhD Funding Coverage,

All full-time PhD students at the School of Nursing receive a full tuition waiver for up to 60 credits as well as health insurance coverage. The School of Nursing provides tuition awards for PhD and MS-PhD students for the required courses in both the master’s and PhD programs.

Application Fee,
A non-refundable application fee of $50 (USD) is required for some programs when you submit your application. This fee is waived for University of Rochester alumni and other select student populations.
