1. Postdoctoral Fellowship
About Postdoctoral Position
One of the tasks on DIATOMIC project Aston University is taking is to develop a Digital Twin (DT) of Hydrogen Fuel Cells used for Electric Vehicles to facilitate the condition monitoring and life cycle management of fuel cells, such as planning the maintenance, remanufacture and reuse. It includes the development of cloud based digital twin framework such as designing the system concept and architecture of the DT framework, and also the development of a digital twin model of fuel cells to predict their operational performance and remaining useful life (RUL) by data analytics and machine learning.
Application Deadline: 14 June 2023
2. Postdoctoral Fellowship
About Postdoctoral Position
This role is part of the Innovate UK-funded Rice Straw-powered Biowaste to Energy project to provide clean electricity in Indonesia. The researcher will be working on the catalytic upgrading of pyrolysis bio-oil derived from rice straw to engine-ready liquid fuel. The role also involves testing the upgraded fuel in a gasoline or diesel engine and modelling the combustion and emission characteristics of the fuel. In addition, the researcher will carry out process modelling and life cycle assessment of the entire biowaste to energy concept. As part of the research activities, the successful candidate will be required to engage and collaborate with different project partners and relevant stakeholders.
Application Deadline: 23 June 2023
3. Postdoctoral Fellowship
About Postdoctoral Position
This Knowledge Transfer Partnership project aims to extend an individual’s independent living by using machine learning and artificial intelligence to process data collected through sensors in the home, to indicate a decline in wellbeing, allowing a care professional to make an early intervention (e.g., in the case of higher risk of a potential fall). This is an exciting position for an MSc / PhD level graduate in computer science or a mathematics-based subject involving maths and computing, who has a strong foundation in data science and data analytics including experience with machine learning algorithms.
Application Deadline: 29 June 2023
4. Postdoctoral Fellowship
About Postdoctoral Position
We are seeking two Research Associates who can contribute to a project using Bayesian modelling, applied to child protection risk prediction data. One post requires knowledge of Bayesian modelling, applied to population and/or administrative datasets. The second post requires a social science researcher with data collection and processing skills. The Risk of Risk, funded by the ESRC, investigates methods by which arithmetic systems of risk prediction in child protection can potentially be improved. The project’s focus is particularly on systems of automated risk prediction including those provided by commercial providers.
Application Deadline: 15 June 2023
5. Postdoctoral Fellowship
About Postdoctoral Position
We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on an innovative research project that has been funded through the Leverhulme Trust research grant – Harnessing vector soliton supramolecular structures (HARVEST). The originality of the project is in the application of the novel concept of the controllable manipulation of the self-organisation scenarios (different pulse patterns) in a laser-based model system.
