About Postdoctoral Position
The USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar – Research Associate to join its team. The postdoctoral scholar will be under the primary mentorship of Dr. Daniel A. Hackman, whose work investigates how social and environmental contexts influence developmental trajectories of health and well-being across the lifecourse.
The candidate will be working on an NICHD funded study of the role of neighborhoods in brain development, cognition, and emotion across adolescence; vulnerability to the COVID-19 pandemic and school-related changes; and the factors that may protect against adversity and foster resilience.
The position involves management and analysis of longitudinal data from a large nationwide sample – the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development study -utilizing multi-modal structural and functional neuroimaging data as well as data on behavior, neighborhood characteristics, educational environments, and family contexts.
Application Deadline: Open until filled
2. Postdoctoral Fellowship
About Postdoctoral Position
An exciting opportunity has been created for an enterprising Bioinformatician to join the USC-Buck Nathan Shock Center (NSC) Genomic Translation Across Species Core (GTASC) within the Leonard Davis School of Gerontology’s Bioinformatics Core at the University of Southern California (USC). The mission of the Gerontology Bioinformatics Core (GBC) is to facilitate the development of data analytic procedures to enable the translation of big data into research findings.
The Bioinformatics Core has growth opportunities with funded research projects that integrate multiple disciplines, including aging biology, geroscience, lifespan, and developmental psychology, genetics, demography, and public health. In particular, we have a strong focus on using genomic data derived from diverse human cohorts to validate findings in model organisms to better understand the architecture of complex traits related to aging-related diseases and longevity.

3. Postdoctoral Fellowship
About Postdoctoral Position
A post-doctoral position is available in the research group of Dr. Steven Gazal, assistant professor in the department of preventive medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of University of Southern California (USC). The fellow will work closely with Dr. Gazal, with other members in his group, and with collaborators at the USC Center of Genetic Epidemiology, and USC biostatistics department. The lab focuses on developing and applying statistical methods to understand the genetic basis of human disease, with expertise in combining population genetics, genetic epidemiology and functional genomics approaches.
Our current area of interests includes: (1) Understanding the impact of selection on the architecture of diseases, (2) Optimizing the use of functional datasets linking disease variants to their target genes, and (3) Understanding the impact of the environment on molecular phenotypes and diseases. We aim to apply these research directions to the analysis of data from inflammatory diseases and immune cells.

About Postdoctoral Position
The Department of Population and Public Health Sciences is seeking a postdoctoral fellow in computational or systems biology to study the interplay of environment, genetics, and epigenetics in the etiology of cancer and other chronic diseases. We look for a highly motivated and competitive postdoc with expertise in processing and analysis of genomic and epigenomic data, experience in multi-omics data integration, and working knowledge of computational modeling and machine learning. The ideal candidate will be able to analyze high dimensional sequencing data, perform network-based analysis (e.g., WGCNA) and functional enrichment analysis to identify key genes, including gene modules, drivers, and hubs, and their interaction networks that govern disease development in humans.
Application Deadline: Open until filled
5. Postdoctoral Fellowship
About Postdoctoral Position
A postdoctoral research position in cancer and genetic epidemiology is available at the USC Center for Genetic Epidemiology within the Department of Population and Public Health Sciences at USC. The applicant must have a Ph.D. (or equivalent qualification) with training in epidemiology, biostatistics and/or statistical genetics. The postdoctoral fellow will work directly with Drs. Chris Haiman and David Conti on analyzing risk factors, genetic and other omics data from diverse cohorts including the Multiethnic Cohort study, the RESPOND African American prostate cancer study and other large-scale genetics consortia (e.g. NHGRI PAGE and PRIMED.
In addition to cancer, non-cancer outcomes will also be examined including anthropometric traits, diabetes and biomarkers, such as lipids, glucose, insulin or inflammatory markers. Studies focused on polygenic risk score development, rare variant analysis and health disparities research will be available. Desired is an applicant familiar with many of the most common analytic tools for genetic association studies. In addition, s/he will participate in the presentation of their research and in the writing of publications. The position requires a highly motivated individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

About Postdoctoral Position
The Peti-Peterdi lab is seeking a Postdoc Scholar to join its team at the Health Science Campus. The Peti-Peterdi’s laboratory is focused on understanding the mechanisms of kidney disease development, and to identify new molecular players in the disease process as potential targets for future development of therapeutic approaches.
The main experimental research approach involves direct visualization of intact organs (mainly the kidney) in mice using fluorescence microscopy. Therefore, long-term experience with handling and surgery of laboratory mice, and basic knowledge/experience in fluorescence microscopy are required.
