1. Postdoctoral Fellowship

About Postdoctoral Position

Light drives photosynthesis and as such powers life on earth. In the field plants need to cope with constantly changing light conditions. This requires a flexible photosynthetic machinery. Light energy is converted into chemical energy in the thylakoid membrane, composed of lipids, proteins and pigments. The thylakoid structure and organisation can dynamically switch to optimize light harvesting and maintain efficient photosynthesis under different light intensities and spectra. At present it is unclear how the thylakoid structure is regulated and which factors control the changes in its organisation and architecture.

2. Postdoctoral Fellowship

About Postdoctoral Position

The postdoc will be supervised by an interdisciplinary team consisting of social scientists providing input on the governance of transition pathways, and on indicators for policy, finance and market assurance, as well as natural scientists providing expertise on aquaculture production systems and wider principles of circularity. In addition, the vision will receive input from stakeholders involved in existing platforms such as the newly established Delta Knowledge Centre Zeeland, and the Community of Practice in the North Sea.

3. Postdoctoral Fellowship

About Postdoctoral Position

You will develop new, or adapt existing, techniques to measure the amounts of key components in leaves of Hirschfeldia incana and other species that despite having C3 photosynthesis have very high photosynthetic rates. These components will include inter alia rubisco, the cytochrome b6/f complex, the chloroplast ATPase and the reaction centres of PSI and PSII. The methods that will be used to measure these components will include precision in vitro light-induced absorbance changes, chlorophyll fluorescence responses and EPR measurements, in folio biophysical measurements, and biochemical assays. Some of these techniques will require the construction of bespoke instruments.

6. Postdoctoral Fellowship

About Postdoctoral Position

The study of protein structure and function is a core activity across the 6 research groups at the Laboratory of Biochemistry of Wageningen University. Proteomics approaches, including those, but not limited to, those based on mass spectrometry (MS), are a core technology used by all our researchers to answer diverse biological questions at the intersection of evolutionary biochemistry, developmental, cellular, structural, and mechano-biology. We see ample opportunities and challenges to bring our proteomics expertise to a new level, by developing new methods for protein identification and quantification with increased sensitivity, for the detection of posttranslational modifications, the resolution of three-dimensional protein structures and whole-protein analysis.
