About Fully Funded PhD in Classical Studies 

A fully funded PhD in Classical Studies is available at the University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. The Classics Department offers a PhD degree program in Classical Studies with four concentrations: Classical Languages and Literature, Ancient Mediterranean World, Ancient Philosophy, and Classical World Transformations. 

Eligibility Criteria 

  • Earned master’s degree prior to entering the PhD.
  • You are expected to have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and subject-specific GPA of 3.5 or above.
  • English language proficiency requirements (non-native English speakers)

PhD Funding Coverage

The University will completely fund doctorate candidates who matriculate in Classics (tuition, annual stipend, and individual health insurance) for as long as they remain in good standing, up to the University’s registration limit. The stipend funding amount is $32,000.
