About Fully Funded PhD in Public Health Sciences
Washington University in St. Louis provides a PhD in Public Health Sciences that is completely supported. The Brown School curriculum stresses substantive, theoretical, and methodological training.
The program is adaptable, allowing each student to focus on an area of concentration that will lead to the dissertation.
Eligibility Criteria
- PhD applicants must have a master’s degree in public health or a related discipline
- You are expected to have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and subject-specific GPA of 3.5 or above.
- English language proficiency requirements (non-native English speakers)
PhD Funding Coverage
All new students receive full tuition remission and a base stipend of $30,000 (over 10 months) per year for 4 years.
Receipt of the stipend is linked to a student’s performance of mentored research in public health or social at the Brown School, and is not tied to work responsibilities.
In some cases, students may be awarded competitive fellowships upon admission, which supplement or replace the base stipend.
Students are encouraged to apply for additional funding opportunities in the form of research and teaching fellowships as well as dissertation grants. Fellowship opportunities may occur as early as the first semester of satisfactory academic progress.

- Entrance test scores, GRE*, GMAT* or other accepted scores*
- Research proposal
- Statement of purpose
